Recognized in countless newspapers across the country, The Golden Burro survived over 80 years in Leadville until 2020 when it finally closed. In an exclusive interview with the founder of the restaurant before he passed away at the age of 96, Roy Pray tells how he founded the Golden Burro in 1938.

We’ve researched court records and newspaper articles and followed the path of the restaurant through all its owners after Pray, all the way up to when Dave Wright finally sold it in 2020.
